Nine walkers met at the VIC for high expectations of good weather and a dry walk. After the obligatory stop at Aratula (it was Mary that couldn't go past the bakery this time)l, we continued on to the camping area at Spicers Gap for the start of our walk.
We started off to the sound of Bell Birds and the track was cleared of the debris we experienced last time we were here.
Report
We had smoko on a high ridge with sweeping views out to Cunningham’s Gap and further north along the magnificent Main Range National Park. This is a really nice part of the walk as it climbs through a rocky ridge section before continuing through into magical rainforest and beyond that the fields of Grass Trees. We found the old timber jinker and stopped for a quick rest and a photo opportunity.
Lunch was sitting on the rocky outcrop at Governors Chair looking east over the Fassifern Valley. One of the best views from the Main Range.
After lunch we walked the fire trail back to the car park with a short stop at “Moss’s Well”.
We again stopped at Aratula on the way back for our traditional refreshments.
Another great day of walking - Colin
