Spicers Gap including Mt Mathieson Circuit - Medium about 9km Petrol $15

Off Mt meeting at Beaudesert at 8am.

The views from Spicers Gap are the best in The Main Range, it will be cold up there so bring something warm.


Saturday 28th August 7.30 VIC - Leader Steve Ph 55451073

Mt Greville - medium to hard as we will be going up Waterfall Gorge (rock hoping) and back down Palm Gorge (steep descent).

Petrol $15 - Off Mt meeting Beaudesert 8 am.

This is my favourite walk so come along and enjoy some of the most varied walking tracks, vegetation and scenery in the South East.

Daves Creek Circuit. - Binna Burra - Medium grade - 12 km - $12

This walk is through some of the most botanically diverse vegetation on the Lamington Plateau. It takes in rainforest, eucalypt forest and open heath lands as well as some of the finest views on the plateau. This time of year we should see wild flowers.

 

Saturday 25th September 2010 – 7.30 Vic. 8.15 Beaudesert - Leader: Paul Ph 55451040

Ship Stern Circuit – Binna Burra – Medium grade - 19km - $12.

Please note that this is a long walk but it is also considered one of the classic walks of the South East. This walk is well known for its superb lookouts and waterfalls.

Gap Creek Falls – Cunningham’s Gap – Medium grade – 10 km - $15

Despite the long steep climb back to the cars we do get some great views of the Fassifern Valley and views back to Mt Mitchell and Mt Cordeaux. Gap Creek at the top of the Falls is a great spot for lunch.

Westrays Grave – Christmas Creek – Medium Grade - 8 km - $15

This walk involves a creek crossing so expect to get wet feet unless you are really good at rock hopping.

As well as being a great walk you also get to learn about the “Stinson plane crash” in 1937 and the story of James Westway who survived the crash but died while seeking help. It is his grave site that we visit.

Tuesday 21th September 2010 at The Heritage Centre - 7.30 pm.

Denise and Sue will show a collection of their photos and give a talk on their recent 6 day bike ride down the Danube River in Austria. This promises to be an informative evening even if you are not planning a multi day bike ride.


 

Walkers are reminded that to walk with the club you must be a financial member. New walkers are welcome, but after your first walk if you wish to do future walks with the club you must be financial. Visitors are accepted as guest of financial members. Enclosed footwear must be worn on all walks.
